About Our Presenters

Russell J. McEwan combines real world business experience, legal acumen and pragmatism to effectively manage labor and employment law issues faced by clients in a wide variety of industries, including the construction, manufacturing, retail, service, and transportation industries. His practice entails representation of clients in federal and state court litigation, before labor arbitrators, at the bargaining table, and before regulatory agencies such as the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the U. S. Department of Labor, and numerous state departments of labor.

Before embarking on his legal career, Russ was a business banker for a leading New York City commercial bank and worked in the general counsel’s office of a major accounting firm.  Russ and his Firm are long time members of ABC and Russ has done many educational programs to benefit the Chapter’s members.  In addition, Russ represents the Chapter at times, and was responsible for our victory a few years back in the Jersey City PLA matter, where we fought and won a constitutional challenged to a mandatory PLA Ordinance.

Maeve Cannon concentrates her practice in public procurement and government contracts litigation, administrative law, and regulatory compliance. She assists corporate clients, large and small, in navigating New Jersey’s government contracting world and has litigated numerous bid protests, both as challenger and defender, in state court and before state administrative agencies for 30 years. Maeve has an active appellate practice and regularly brings emergent applications in the Appellate Division and County courts and also appears before state agencies and state and administrative courts on a variety of regulatory issues. She has substantial experience in all aspects of government contracting disputes at the state and local levels and advises clients at each stage of the public bidding and contract process. 

Maeve has served as counsel to a number of public entities at the state and local levels. She currently serves as General Counsel to Ewing Township, NJ and was former General Counsel to the Borough of Princeton, where she served as counsel during the consolidation of Princeton Borough and Princeton Township. Maeve was also general counsel to the Trenton Housing Authority for a number of years. She served as procurement counsel for Kean University, addressing numerous procurement and protest related issues on behalf of the university and has served as outside counsel for Stockton University for Open Public Records Act- related litigation. Maeve has served as outside procurement and appeals counsel to the New Jersey Schools Development Authority and represented that agency on a number of matters involving the agency’s many procurements. She is a frequent lecturer on procurement and related topics.
